How long does bulk production take?

We check things at a few different points, not just at the end.

First is raw material. Since we manufacture our own acetate sheets in-house, we're not stuck relying on outside suppliers whose batches can vary in thickness or shade. We control the process from the sheet stage itself, checking thickness and color consistency before anything goes to cutting. Bad sheet in means bad clip out, so this step matters more than people think.

During production, our QC pulls samples off the line, not just one at the start and one at the end. Things we check: edge smoothness (nobody wants a clip that snags hair), spring tension, whether the color matches the approved sample, and how the piece holds up under a basic snap-open-close stress test.

Before packing, there's a final inspection. We will conduct extremely rigorous quality inspections.It is not a simple random inspection. We check for scratches, uneven polish, hardware that's loose, that kind of thing. 

If it's a new client or a first order, we're happy to send photos or a short video during production too. Some clients like seeing the process before goods ship, especially for bigger orders where a mistake would be expensive to fix later. Just ask, we don't mind at all.

Honestly, most buyers get this wrong by starting with price. Price tells you almost nothing until you know what you're comparing.

Start with the material. Acetate isn't one thing — there's Italian cellulose acetate, and there's the cheaper stuff cut with filler resin. The cheap version cracks around the hinge after a few months. A factory that's confident in their material will send you a raw sheet sample before you even order, no charge. If they dodge that request, that's your answer right there.

Ask about the spring and pin too. Sounds minor, but it's usually where quality actually breaks down. Stainless steel springs hold tension for years. The mystery-metal ones rust or go loose within a season, especially with humidity or hair product buildup. Good suppliers will tell you exactly what alloy they use without you having to dig for it.

Check tooling ownership. If a factory owns the mold for your claw shape, they can tweak thickness, curve, teeth spacing — whatever you need. If they're renting a mold from a broker, you're stuck with whatever shape exists already, and changes take forever or just don't happen.

MOQ is another giveaway. A shop asking for 5,000 pieces minimum on a first order either doesn't do small-batch work or isn't set up for custom designs. Factories used to working with newer brands usually start around 200–500 pieces per design.

Lastly — just ask for a sample with your logo or your exact color, not their catalog piece. Anyone can show you a nice stock photo. What matters is whether they can actually execute your spec. Turnaround on a real custom sample is usually about 10 days.

None of this is complicated. It just takes actually asking the right questions instead of trusting a product photo.
